Chu Po-Cheng

Chu Po-Cheng received his master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Transdisciplinary Performing Arts at National Taiwan University. He specializes in wusheng and laosheng, and has studied with Wu Hsing-kuo, Guo Hongtian, Zhang Fuchun, Hsu Po-Ang, Tai Li-Wu, Zhao Yongwei (Beijing), and Wang Lijun (Shanghai). His repertoire includes The Crossroads, White Water Beach, Flight at Night, Scouting the Village, Overturning the Iron Rollers, Heroic Loyalty, Death at Baqiu, Revolt of the Fishing Folks, Qin Qiong's Battle Formation, Leaving the Cave to Join the Army, and Slaying at Four Gates. He has performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Faust, 108 Heroes, Medea, Goddess Xiwangmu , and Caesar’s Maze by the Contemporary Legend Theatre, Wu Song—The Tiger Warrior, The Youth Party, and Eternal Flower by Hsing Legend Youth Theatre, and The Back of Beyond and Heart Scenery by Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre. Chu is the 2023 recipient of Best Young Actor of the Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music.
